  1. It is important to keep the bill or purchase receipt of sale.
  2. The original purchaser has the warranty of the electric trolling motor. It frees the motor from any defects in workmanship or material for a period of two years.
  3. In order to receive the warranty, the purchaser must obtain a warranty service to deliver or give the unit back. Buyers are required not to return the unit to the place of purchase, regardless of the service center’s authorization. A copy of the bill of sale, receipt or registration verification is required with the return of the purchase item.
  4. The company will be able to replace the items that come under the warranty. Neither the company nor the service dealers are responsible for any damage of the trolling motor. The company will not be responsible if the repairs on the trolling motor are not done by authorized company’s service dealers.
  5. The government and commercial use customers can get the trolling motors warranted from the retail purchaser. It will be free from any defects in workmanship or material for a period of 1 year.
  6. The warranty is often available for the customers who purchase the product from an authorized retailer or dealer of the manufacturing company. The duration and coverage of the warranty are based on the country in which the owner lives.  The warranty begins when the product is placed into service or after the first sale of the trolling motor. 

The Do’s and Don’ts

  • Do not let the children run the trolling motor without the presence of any adult
  • Do not add any accessories or alter the unit.
  • Do not wash the trolling motor.
  • Do not let the power disconnect from the trolling motor when you replace the propeller, charging batteries, removing the debris and when the motor is not in use.
  • Do make sure that the foot pedal is safeguarded and the motor is fully secured with a lock. It should be locked in a stowed position when you use a gasoline motor to move it.
  • Do not forget to secure all the loose items on the boat before you start to travel at a high speed.
  • Do secure loose items on your boat before traveling at high speeds across the water.

Use of floatation devices

The law says that it is necessary that the personal floatation device is approved. It should have a correct size for every person present on the boat. The floatation devices must be readily accessible to the people on board. You should also have a throwable flotation device onboard.

Avoid overloading the boat

The boat must not be overloaded with people and gear. Many boats are certified and rated to carry maximum load and capacities. These capacities are listed on the capacity plate of the boat usually located onn the drivers side of the boat. If there is any doubt, you must contact the manufacturer of the boat.

Ensure maintenance and safety checks

Follow a regular pattern of safety checks. Make sure that all the repairs are done in the right way.

Do not go boating while drunk

Do not go boating while you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Being under the influence of alcohol and drugs impairs the boater’s judgment. It also reduces one’s ability to think and react in certain situations.

Uses and benefits of a trolling motor

Understanding the design a mechanism of a trolling motor

The most modern trolling motors are designed around an electric motor of 36 volts, 24 volts and 12 volts. One can take advantage of the presence of deep cycle batteries of about 12 volts. They are specifically designed for marine use.

The motor is sealed inside a compartment. The compartment is watertight from the shaft’s end. Inside the motor its compartment is submerged in the water when it is used. It prevents the trolling motor from overheating.

The propeller is fitted on top of the prop shaft.


Tiller is used for steering. The speed control is either present into the tiller or have a control knob on the top of the entire unit. A clamp is used to attach the hand controlled trolling motors to the boat.


The speed control and on/off control is operated by foot. They are built into the pedals of the trolling motor and control the mechanism of steering as well. Steering can be done through electricity, which is controlled through servo motors.  In older models of foot control trolling motors, a push and pull cables were used.

The trolling motors controlled by foot require a specific mounting bracket. It secures horizontally to the deck. The major advantage of the foot control is that the fisherman gets two free hands for landing and fishing the hooked fish. There are situations such as windy or wavy conditions in which it becomes difficult to coordinate the footwork with the hands

Wireless Remote

The wireless remote of the trolling motor is only available on the latest high-end model of the trolling motor. Speed controlled steering and servo controlled steering, both are used by the wireless device. It is used in a foot pedal or in a key-fob transmitter which is exactly like an automatic remote keyless system.
