The terminal significant "+" is for positive volts. The terminal significant "-" is for ground. These must be attached for the sign to tape battery usage. With just these 2 terminals attached, there will be no display showing. This is done to save battery power, however the meter is keeping an eye on the batteries
When you wish to see the display, connect the terminal significant "C" to a positive volt source (+ and - terminals ought to still be connected).
"C" can be tough wired to have the display revealing all the time or can be used through a temporary contact switch to see the battery condition by depressing the short-term contact switch. Another method for setup would be to connect "C" to a terminal coming from a switch key that goes hot when the key is turned on. Keep in mind that + and - must constantly be connected.
