Hand Control

Hand control trolling motors are bow mounted or transom mounted and are operated via a handle that controls speed and direction. Some models have handles that extend and also tilt for ease of use. The hand control trolling motors are typically less expensive than the bow mount foot control. The hand control trolling motor does give you more deck space to fish from.
I used to bass fish with a guy who loved and preferred a hand control over a foot control trolling motor. He didn't like the foot pedal. He was a master with his hand control but he used his knee the majority of the time fishing. It was as if he was in automatic mode. Flip the jig, knee bump the handle, flip the jig, knee bump the handle, tap tap fish on.
